Kilmegan Velo Club is a cycling club based in the ancient civil parish of Kilmegan in County Down which includes the towns of Castlewellan and Dundrum.
The club was founded in late 2017 and has grown from strength to strength. At KVC, everyone is welcome as it is an all ability club, suitable for anyone looking to get involved in the cycling phenomenon, regardless of any previous cycling experience.
In 2018 the club ran its first ever “No Hills, No Thrills” sportive with proceeds in aid of the “Mourne Mountain Rescue Team”, a voluntary group providing a search and rescue service 365 days a year in the Mournes and beyond, sometimes in extreme weather and terrain conditions. A truly worthy cause.
Our inaugural sportive was a massive success with over 120 riders taking to the roads.
The 2019 sportive was the same route and it was fantastic to see so many riders return to experience once again the fantastic scenery and craic.
2020 will be a new route, details to be released shortly and it promises to have a bit of everything.
